Background

BATHABILE MTHOMBENI, J.D. believes there are no impossible cases.  A cum laude graduate of Princeton University, she earned her law school at Columbia University where she began mediating in civil court.  There she discovered her passion and talent for helping fighting people to resolve their disputes for themselves.  She puts every bit of her education and experience to work for her clients.  As a divorcee, she understands first hand what you might be experiencing right now.  She puts empathy and compassion first in every client interaction.

Experience

Bathabile is the former Associate University Ombuds Officer for Columbia University and a former associate at a large corporate law firm in New York City.  During her time at Columbia University she served hundreds of employees, students, professors, parents and visitors by providing them with confidential, informal and impartial dispute resolution services.

She has been an instructor in the Columbia University School of Continuing Education’s Master of Science Program on Negotiation and Conflict Resolution where she developed and taught a class called The Fundamentals of Organizational Ombudsman Practice.

In addition to more than 10,000 hours helping individuals, couples and groups to resolve their differences, Bathabile has over 100 hours of specialized divorce mediation training and hundreds of additional hours of post-graduate training in mediation and conflict resolution. She stays current by attending at least 20 hours of Continuing Education every year.

Bathabile is a gifted speaker.  She has developed and presented numerous workshops, seminars and panel presentations at venues like Columbia University, Princeton University and the New York City Bar Association. She currently hosts her own weekly radio show, “The Problem is the Answer”, and publishes a monthly Ezine by the same name.

Philosophy

Bathabile understands that conflicts in relationships can devastate anybody’s life. Her main concern is for her clients to recognize their power to re-establish normalcy and happiness in their lives.  A mediation is successful for Bathabile when her clients are in charge of creating the best possible solution that addresses everyone’s needs and interests.  She urges her clients: Choose sanity.  Mediate.
